Elisa Saggioro - our next visiting research student
The Manchester Game Centre is thrilled to be welcoming its third International Visiting Research Student. Elisa Saggioro, a PhD researcher from The University of Oslo, will be joining us in February for a month-long visit.
Elisa is a researcher on the ERC-funded project “JEUX: Literary Games, Poetics and the Early Modern Novel”, led by Prof. Karin Kukkonen. The project investigates how literary games have shaped novelistic form, fictionality, and literary history. My work focuses on the intersection of game studies and literature.
Elisa’s PhD project, “The Emotional Landscape: Recreating the Carte de Tendre as a Role Playing Game,” which combines theoretical framing with practical game design, reconceptualizes Madeleine de Scudéry's fictional map “Carte de Tendre” as a role playing game with emphasis on the magic circle, spatiality, and the ontological levels of pretense and fictionality.
During her stay, Elisa will continue with her PhD studies, meet with staff and PGR student members of the Manchester Game Centre, and attend our research events. Moreover, Ms Saggioro will contribute to our ongoing seminar series, presenting her own work as part of our seminar series.
