The EGU Game Jam

The Manchester Game Studies Network is delighted announce The EGU Game Jam, in collaboration with the European Geosciences Union, as part of vEGU21. The theme for this game jam is ‘Geoscience’ and we’re inviting designers old and new to come up with games that fit on just 4 sheets of A4 paper (you can print on both sides). We’re looking for exciting new board games, card games, RPGs, dexterity games - anything that can be printed at home, and which has a theme that is related to the geosciences, or an aspect of geoscientific research.

The competition opens on Monday 1st February 2021 and closes on Friday 16th April 2021. Entries will be judged by our panel of judges in terms of science communication (how well it communicates a geoscientific topic), gameplay (how fun it is to play), accessibility (how accessible it is to all audiences), and design (how it looks), with the winner announced on Thursday 30th April.

In addition, the EGU Game Jam, there is also an EGU Videogame Jam, which will be hosted by our friends at The SeriousGeoGames Lab.

Both the Game Jams will be hosted on the itch.io platform and can be viewed, downloaded, and/or played online via this platform.

You can enter the EGU Game Jam by clicking on the following button, which also takes you to a list of video resources that have been supplied from game designers across the world on how to make engaging and impactful games that are also fun to play!
