Daybreak: A Coop Board Game about Tackling the Climate Crisis

About this event

Imagine the world's decision-makers have been pressured by the people they represent to take climate breakdown seriously. In Daybreak, each player controls one of 4 world powers: the US, China, Europe, and the Majority World. Together, they need to decarbonise all aspects of society, while protecting communities from climate shocks. If any world power has too many communities in crisis, global temperatures ever get too high, or players run out of time, everyone loses. But if players draw down global emissions to net zero in time, they all win.

Ahead of Daybreak’s Kickstarter campaign in spring 2022, designers Matt Leacock and Matteo Menapace will discuss how they have been modelling the global climate crisis in a board game, and ask how playing can inspire a deeper involvement in climate work.
