Manchester Game Centre: Read our Annual Report!
The Manchester Game Centre was established in 2016 as a cross-university research network, drawing its membership from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Health and Education, and Science and Engineering.
It is co-led by Paul Wake (English), Chloé Germaine (English) and Jennifer Cromwell (History). The wider leadership group consists of Benjamin Bowman (Impact lead), Tom Brock (Esports and Sociology lead), John Henry (Serious Games for Health/ Maths and Computing Lead), Frazer Heritage (Narrative and Representation and Linguistics lead), David Jackson (SODA lead), Wahida Khandker (Environment lead), John Lean (Education lead), and Jack Warren (PGR lead).
We bring together colleagues from different departments to work together on projects, develop game-based funding applications, and demonstrate that Manchester Met is a leading institution in critical game studies at a national and international level. Our vision is to grow the research community around games and to leverage our cross and inter-disciplinary expertise to keep winning large funding bids on critical societal topics. Through this work, we will develop our international reputation as the ‘go-to’ Game Centre for expertise in creative research methods, game making, and games for social impact
We recently released our annual report, showcasing our work over 2023-2024. The report features our current research projects and information about our ongoing priorities for research, public engagement and impact.
