How can universities help build a more sustainable games industry — and what should we be teaching the next generation of game developers?
MGC's Chloé Wake co-leads the Sustainable Games Alliance Academic Network a global initiative connecting universities and research institutes committed to driving real change in the games industry.
On 14 May, the network hosts its next meet-up, bringing together academics and researchers to share best practices and foster the kind of global collaboration that makes sustainable transition in the games industry possible.
The session reflects the longstanding partnership between MGC, the EU Horizon Europe-funded STRATEGIES project, and the SGA — working together to ensure that the latest research reaches the people who need it most.
The meet-up will explore the relationship between practical sustainability work and research from two directions. Bart Simon will present practical design research that uses making as a method for exploring conditions of production, while Hugo Bille will reflect on research and education from the perspective of a game maker and community organiser — asking what academia should prioritise to create real, practical change and to empower students.
Free to attend — all are welcome.
