Gothic Crossroads is a conference organised by Manchester Centre for Gothic Studies exploring and celebrating the multi and interdisciplinary crossings of Gothic and Horror studies. It includes papers on film, TV, art, literature, architecture, audio, gaming, comics and fashion. For games fans, there is a plenary by Maisha Wester from University of Sheffield, 'Coded Black: Gaming the Gothic for Social Justice'. This is about her new social justice game, Coded Black (now available to play free of charge of Steam). This is on Wednesday 25 June at 5.15 to 6.30pm in Dalton building, LT1 (G.37).
There are also panels on Gaming and Music Videos (25 June, 1.30 - 3.00), Scare Attractions, Dark Tourism and Memorialisation (26 June, 11.15-12.45) and Horror Audio/Podcasting (27 June, 11.30-1.00). On Wednesday there is a Gothic and Heritage Fair in the Dalton atrium, with stalls and displays by 10 local heritage organisations.
The conference is free to MMU staff and students; you are welcome to turn up to anything you'd like to hear and don't need to register unless you'd like to attend the whole conference. Anyone from outside MMU can register for tickets by following the link on our website.
