Dr Juan Hiriart (University of Salford)

Juan Hiriart is Senior Lecturer in Interactive Media Arts and Design at the University of
Salford. As a digital designer, he is particularly interested in the development and application
of games beyond pure entertainment, in contexts where they can promote social change
through the meaningful and critical understanding of subjects across disciplines.

Dr Adam Hart (University of Salford)

Adam Hart is Lecturer in Music Technology and Programme Leader for the BA in Creative
Music Technology at the University of Salford. He has a background in secondary education
and audio programming, and his research interests involve creative advocacy through
interactive technology. His PhD project ‘A Constructivist Approach to Developing Interactive
Digital Technologies for Musical Learning’ was awarded a scholarship by the Arts & Humanities
Research Council. He is currently exploring the use of Minecraft and other sandbox gaming
environments as a mechanism for creatively engaging youth groups in environmental
sustainability.

Chloé Germaine (Manchester Metropolitan University)

Chloé Germaine is a Reader in Environmental Humanities at Manchester Metropolitan University and co-director of the Manchester Game Centre. Her research considers game play and game making practices in critical literacy, activism and research. She also researches the environmental impact of game development alongside their potential in culture and society as agent of transformative change.
