About Izzy Bartley

Izzy is a postgraduate research student working within the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds. Her doctoral research focuses on the representation of colonialism in board games and how we can use these games as learning tools within museums and the board game industry itself. She is interested in how these objects of material culture are both products of, and influencers in, our view of the world and shared histories. Izzy’s background is in education, having taught in the UK and abroad in both formal and informal settings. Prior to starting her doctoral research, she worked for Leeds Museums and Galleries, where her role included managing MyLearning, a website hosting learning resources for teachers, and digital interpretation across the nine sites. She gained a Distinction in her MA in Cultural Heritage Management from the University of York (UK).
