Playing D&D in Historical Settings: a Roundtable with Jenny Cromwell
MMGC member Jenny Cromwell will be joining a transnational panel of academics and game designers today to discuss the suitability of using Dungeon & Dragons for historical settings.
The panel consider how suitable D&D is for historical representation and how players might use it to explore historical periods and events. Panel members include
James Holloway: contributor to A Folklore Bestiary, Knock! and Cthulhu Dark Ages
Andrea Oneglia: author of Medieval, Tales from Europe, a historical 5th edition setting that is currently on Kickstarter here
Edmund Hayes: postdoctoral researcher in Medieval Middle Eastern History at Radboud University, in the Netherlands, and game master in a D&D campaign set in 8th-century Egypt.
Eline Scheerlinck: PhD student in Greek and Coptic Papyrology at Leiden University, in the Netherlands, and player in Edmund's campaign.
Jenny Cromwell: Senior Lecturer in Ancient History at Manchester Metropolitan University, and player in Edmund's campaign.
