'It was aways going to end here...' - Folk Horror RPG Podcast

In preparation for our upcoming event on the Environment in Roleplaying Games — Dark Forests and Doomed Adventurers — we have prepared a special podcast.

Join MGSN researchers - Jennifer Cromwell, Chloé Germaine and Paul Wake, as we play the creepy Folk Horror roleplaying game, The Shivering Circle.

The Shivering Circle RPG is designed by Howard David Ingham and draws on his love and knowledge of Folk Horror television and film.

An abandoned landscape, soaked with unresolved histories; a village, hiding an age-old conspiracy;
a shadowy thing, whispering terrible secrets to children; a tortured house, playing back the traumas of the past; a stone circle, where the ley lines meet…

Listen as Rowan, Jim and Billie explore the picturesque village of Hoddesford. Things quickly become strange as the environment — and the locals — turn against the outsiders…

We hope this actual play episode helps to set the mood for our panel discussion, Dark Forests and Doomed Adventurers: Games and the Environment. Tickets are free and the event is running from 5pm - 7pm BST online, on Wednesday 5th May.

The event features Howard as one of our panellists, along with several indie rpg creators whose work explores the creepy, weird and eerie world of horror roleplaying games.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Chris Gregory of the Alternative Stories podcast for editing, audio effects and post production work.

Enjoy!
